Overview

Grunt started as a PowerPoint add-in, but from the beginning we built it as a toolkit of its own, not a feature of PowerPoint. The engine behind it was built to run anywhere, and that is what makes it ready for whatever comes after the deck.

Traditional PowerPoint add-ins live entirely inside PowerPoint and are tightly coupled to its native objects. That was fine when every deck lived and died in PowerPoint, but it stops there. The AI assistants and the new workflows now arriving are a different matter: Grunt is built to work with them, not against them. Claude works your deck, and the charts it places through Grunt are real Grunt objects from the first draft. The same chart can go straight into an HTML report, with nothing redrawn and nothing changed. See Use Grunt objects in PowerPoint for the live connection.

What Grunt adds underneath is the engine. Grunt started as a PowerPoint add-in too, but the engine behind it was built to run anywhere, which is why the same objects work in PowerPoint, in the browser, in HTML reports and through whichever assistant you use.

Traditional PowerPoint add-ins are fully focused on PowerPoint, tightly coupled to native objects including charts, with the add-in as the only product: AI inside PPT. Grunt offers industry-leading PowerPoint integration, a truly cross-platform visualization engine, and proven customer value inside PowerPoint and beyond: presentations in an AI world.

#Where Grunt runs today

  • PowerPoint. The Grunt add-in, with point-and-click editing on the slide itself, and the live connection that lets Claude for PowerPoint work on an open deck.
  • Grunt Web Studio. The same objects and the same editing in the browser, with no PowerPoint required.
  • HTML reports. Written analysis and Grunt visuals in a browser-readable report.
  • Inside AI chats. Charts render and edit in the chat itself, through MCP.

Every surface uses one engine, so a chart made in one place is the same chart everywhere else. That is what lets a deck outlive the tool it was first made in.
